Teaching-Learning Layout:

Uttaranchal University has a comprehensive process for developing its curriculum in its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, which encompass 12 Academic Schools. The university ensures that all programs/course outcomes are in line with the local, regional, national, and international needs. The curriculum development follows a three-tier system, which involves gathering feedback from various stakeholders, enhancing the curriculum through the input of the Board of Studies, and obtaining final approval from the Academic Council.

Uttaranchal University has embraced a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary approach in line with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The university recognizes the need for a holistic and integrated education system that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries. To encourage and boost an equitable learning experience for its students, UU has adopted the Choice Based Credit System & NEP 2020 policy. The community learning at UU connects fellow students and alumni across different interests and courses. It also helps boost learning and growing personally and intellectually, leading to deeper bonds that last a lifetime.

Innovative Curriculum:

The innovative curriculum that forms the very basis for UU is infused with theory and practice to instil experiential learning. With case studies and examples from various domains like policy-making and governance, and frequent evaluations by external academicians, the curriculum emerges as an ever-evolving program. It strives to increase the chances of opportunity by incorporating technologies in classrooms with an enhanced faculty set. The Division of Research & Innovation prepares or hones the students to be scientifically and technologically driven. The interdisciplinary approach helps to fuse different viewpoints like scientific, engineering, technological and mathematical.



Teaching Pedagogy:

UU’s pedagogy is induced with an interactive session to create an intuitive ambience and stands apart as it encourages communication and activity-based learning for better learning outcomes among students. The faculty at UU are driven and motivated to continually create an atmosphere to assist and evaluate learning through Gap Analysis.

The faculty emphasizes special attention to the background, parents’ support, counselling, communication, and aptitude verification of students. It provides feedback analysis of students to magnify its transparency and authenticity. The use of arts and innovative ways soar all expectations. The extra co-curricular activities include sporting events that develop a teamwork spirit and leadership by cheering and winning together towards victory. Other campus recreational activities at UU include fitness, wellness opportunities for students like intramural sports, club sports, comprehensive counselling, fitness, and medical services.

The University continually strives to cultivate substantial learning depth by associating it with industry. It encourages “learning by doing” for a first-hand experience at learning that transcends the mere classroom learning. Consequently, the very cornerstone of Uttaranchal University has been hands-on training to produce smart business graduates. Zero Lecture


The concept of conducting an initial lecture referred to as the "Zero lecture" involves providing students with an overview of the core content of the subject being taught. During this lecture, the students gain an understanding of the subject's objectives and the expected outcomes of the course. Additionally, they are made aware of the program outcomes and specific achievements they can expect to attain as the course progresses in the near future.

Active Learning


We deliver subject-based lectures to give a strong overview of the topic being taught. Sometimes we give a short presentation while delivering lectures to better equip students with the topic. At the end of the classroom lectures, we invite students to ask questions and share their ideas and doubts. This method of teaching is impactful and engaging.

Problem-Based Learning


In problem-based learning, students are presented with complex real-world problems and are asked to come up with potential solutions to solve them. As this method of learning is often group-oriented, students are asked to work in groups. This helps in developing a teamwork spirit.

Project-Based Learning


Students work on extended projects that involve research, analysis, and presentation. It encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning. Students typically collaborate in groups and may present their projects to the class or submit a final report.

Blended Learning


Apart from traditional teaching which confines within a classroom, we deliver world-class education at the doorstep of learners through online education. Our e-materials and live and recorded videos accelerate and enhance their self-learning process.

Practical and Laboratory Sessions
