Grand Celebration of Convocation - 2020 Ceremony at Uttaranchal University
The inaugural grand Convocation Ceremony took place on February 29, 2020, at the "Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of Uttaranchal University," where a remarkable achievement was celebrated. A total of 59 Gold Medals, 16 Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees, and 2668 other academic degrees were conferred during the ceremony. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the Hon'ble Minister of Higher Education, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

On the 29th of February, 2020 the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium at Uttaranchal University hosted its inaugural Grand Convocation Ceremony. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event unfolded in a traditional Indian manner, with the lighting of auspicious lamps accompanied by Swasti Chants of Mantras by the Acharyas of Dev Sanskriti Vishwa Vidyalaya. The Convocation ceremony commenced with a procession, featuring the melodious tunes of the Sena Band of Garhwal Rifles.
Following tradition, Shri Ajay Singh, the Registrar of the University, led the procession, with the Chief Guest being the last to enter the auditorium. The Hon’ble Chancellor extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, presenting him with a bouquet of flowers, a memento, and a handmade portrait. During the event, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. N. K. Joshi, provided a comprehensive report on the university's progress and achievements. A total of 2668 degrees were conferred, including 16 doctorate degrees and 59 Gold Medals. Prof. Joshi highlighted the significant accomplishment of producing over 50 judicial officers in a short period.
In his address, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat praised the grandeur of the university's auditorium, declaring it the best in Uttarakhand. He reaffirmed his commitment to make Uttarakhand a leader in higher education, announcing the Sixth Dham of Uttarakhand as Vidya Dham. Dr. Rawat acknowledged the mandatory inclusion of convocation ceremonies in Uttarakhand universities and outlined the key aspects of the proposed New Education Policy, emphasizing education for all.
