Sports Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized Diksharambh Sports Day – 2022 for the First Year students. The event aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of students. Dean of UIM Professor (Dr.) Pradeep Suri inaugurated the event. The students participated in a wide range of sports events, ranging from Table Tennis to Carom Board, and Chess to Badminton. Many students enthusiastically participated in the event.
The final match of Table Tennis was won by Ayush Raj of BBA 1st year. The winner of Badminton was Sanskriti Bisht of BBA 1st year. The winner of the Carom Board competition was Prateek Aswal of BBA 1st year. The winner of the Chess competition was Abhay Tomar of BBA 1st year. The event was coordinated by Mr. Manish Ghalwan, Head of sports club, accompanied by Ms. Kanchan Bisht, Mr. Farman Ali, Mr. Rakesh kumar, and Mr. Sanjay Singh Chauhan. In all, the entire event was a grand success.

Sports Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organizes the sport meet from 7 April- 9 April 2022 to commemorate World Health Day. Professor (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean of UIM, opened the event with Dr Megha Aggarwal, HoD – Management, Dr Sonal Sharma, HoD, IT, Mr Manish Badoni, HoD, HM and Mr Abhishek Kumar Pathak, DIQAC, UIM The students of all programs participated with great zeal and excitement in a wide range of sports events which included Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carom and Chess. In cricket, eight teams have participated. A large number of students took part in different sports activities. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean UIM, graced the Grand Finale of UIM Sports Meet on 9 April 2022 with his address note. He emphasized that each student should play at least one game which may help the students to utilise their immense energy constructively. The activities for the day began under his direction. In both the boys’ and girls’ categories, matches were played on a knockout basis. Each player showed grit & sporting spirit and competed ferociously to deliver the best performance.
The Finals of Cricket Match was played between BBA III Year and BBA I Year on 9 April 2022. In which BBA I Year was the winner and Mr Aftab, BBA I declared player of the match for his outstanding performance. The Final Match of Table tennis was won by Mr Sachin Panwar of BBA III Year and the runner-up position was achieved by the Mr Rohit Singh of BCA 1st Year.
The Winner of Chess in Boys’ Category was Mr Akshat, MCA I Year and while the second rank was secured by Mr Ankit Rawat BBA III Year, Mr Muzakkir Ahmad, B Com II Year secured the third position. The Winner in the Girls’ Category was Ms Arju Pandey of BSc IT I Year and Ms Kirti Maheshwari, B Com II Year and Ms Simran Bhargav, B Com II Year secured second and third positions respectively.
The Winner of Badminton in Boys’ Category was Mr Rohit Kumar MCA I Year and Runner-up was Mr Adarsh Kapoor BBA I Year. The Winner in Girls’ Category Singles was Ms Mudita BBA I year and Runner-up was Ms Kritika Sharma BSc IT II Year. In Doubles, Winners were Ms Komal Rawat & Ms Kirti Kalra B Com (H) II Year and runner up were Ms Kritika Sharma & Ms Saloni Pawar BSc IT II Year. Another thrilling event was carom, in which Mr Pushpendra Panwar BCA I Year was the winner and Mr Abhishek Bhatt BCA I Year was the runner-up.
The Final Match of Volleyball in the Girls ‘category was won by Team “B” BBA I year under the captaincy of Ms Tanuja Dhanari BBA I Year, team “A” BBA II Year was the runner up.
The Event was Coordinated by Mr Farman Ali, Head Sports Club accompanied by Dr Deepti Sharma, Mr Sameer Dev Sharma, Dr Deepa Bisht, Dr Tarunpreet Kaur, Dr Sunil Shukla, Mr Sanjay Chauhan, Mr Kapil Baghi, Mr Praveen Kumar Shah and Ms Sanyukta Chibber.
The captains and all participants appreciated the efforts of UIM to encourage the students to take part in sports and focus on their overall (physical and mental) development.
National Sports Day
Phool Dei- the auspicious folk festival of Uttarakhand which welcomes the spring season. The festival is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu month, Chaitra. Phool Dei is a reverence paid to the gods for the good crop year.

Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS) under the aegis of Uttaranchal University organised a Sports event on the occasion of “National Sports Day”, which is celebrated throughout India to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, “Major Dhyan Chand”. Major Dhyan Chand Singh who won gold medals in Olympics for India in the years 1928, 1932, and 1936.
Students of USCS participated in all the activities with great zeal and enthusiasm. The above event was planned and executed by Mr Praveen Shah, Head, Sports Club, USCS.

A cultural event “SALS Synergy Fest-2022” was organized for the students of the School of Applied and Life Sciences on 14 May 2022.
Intra-University Sports’ Fest
The Sports Committee of Uttaranchal University successfully organised a 3-Day Intra-University Sports Fest from 14th March to 16th March 2022 by the Sports’ Committee, Office of Dean Student Welfare. The students participated in large numbers across different sporting categories, viz. Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, and Football.
This event was inaugurated by Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean Student Welfare, Dr Shravan Kumar, Deputy DSW, Dr Kartikey, PTI, Mr Jaiwardhan Singh by cutting the ribbon of Volleyball Court.
Day one involved the qualifiers wherein the teams from all the Colleges/Institutes/Schools participated and the winners competed for the Semi-Finals round on the next day. The finals took place on the 16th of March 2022. The competition was fierce, and the audience was passionately involved as they witnessed competitive and skilful teams match off with each other in every round.
The concluding ceremony was graced by Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna and they all praised the enthusiasm of students and assured them of any kind of facility for Sports. The dignitaries gave the certificates and trophies to winners and motivated Runner-ups to do better next time.

‘Sports Mania-2019’ was organized under the banner of ‘Nirmaan’ (Society of Civil Engineering Department) on 17th August, 2019. The event comprised of 3 indoor games:
Badminton – 8 Teams of 2 students each participated in the event. Total 3 rounds were played. First round was the Screening Round out of which 4 Teams were selected. After the Second Round 2 Teams were selected. The team of Manish Gusain and Alok Bharti of Civil Engineering, II Year emerged as Winners in the Final Round.
Chess – 8 players participated in this game. Total 3 rounds were played. First round was Screening Round out of which 4 players were selected. After The Second Round 2 players were selected. Rahul Devrari of Civil Engineering, II Year emerged as Winner in the Final Round.
Table Tennis – 8 players participated in this game. Total 3 rounds were played. First round was screening round out of which 4 winning players were selected. First round was Screening Round out of which 4 players were selected. After The Second Round 2 players were selected. Ankit Shukla of Civil Engineering, IV Year emerged as Winner in the Final Round.
Participants and Winners of each game were acknowledged by the Head of the Department Dr. Faraz Tariq, Coordinator Mr. Awadhesh Chandramauli and Cultural Activity Coordinator Mr. Shubham Khatri.
The event was organized by the Student Coordinators, namely, Mayank Nautiyal, Manish Gusain, Mitali, Kanchan and Yatendra with the help of Faculty Coordinators, namely, Mr. Gaurav Thakur, Mr. Ashish Pathani, Mr. Vinod Balmiki and Ms. Nishima Chaddha.

Uttaranchal University continued its tradition of celebrating the Republic Day by organising a fun-filled Staff Cricket Tournament. Honourable Chancellor of the University Mr Jitendra Joshi inaugurated the event and motivated all the players by batting from one end and another end was responsibly handled by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi. The Dean Student Welfare, Prof(Dr) shravan Kumar bowled to kick start the tournament. It was a two days event wherein six teams participated.
Three knock-out matches between SALS and SOA, UU-XI and LCD, UU-Guest House and UU Admin were held on 25th January 2022. The winning teams viz. SOA, UU-XI, UU-Guest House participated in the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and the Finale on 26th January 2022. UU-XI emerged victorious and the ground was filled with cheers and applause.

Interdepartmental volley ball Tournament was organized by “Eureka Club” of SALS, Uttaranchal University from 28-09-2021 to 30-09-2021 for the current academic session.

Interdepartmental volley ball Tournament was organized by “Eureka Club” of SALS, Uttaranchal University from 28-09-2021 to 30-09-2021 for the current academic session. More than thirty two boys and twenty girls’ students from different programmes viz. Physics, Chemistry, Food-tech, Biotech and Mathematics participated in the tournament.
The tournament was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean-SALS in the presence of Dr B S Rawat, Dr Bharti Ramola, Dr Nishesh, Dr Vivekanad Bahuguna, Mr Shivam Pandey and Mr Kamran Chaudhary. The event was organized by Mr Prateek Uniyal, sports coordinator- SALS. All the necessary arrangements were done by student sports coordinator Sachin Singh Selal.

Around 30 students from all the constituent departments of SALS participated in the tournament. The program was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal-SALS. The Heads of the Departments Dr. Nishesh Sharma (Head-Department of Biotechnology), Dr. Shuchi Upadhyay (Head-Department of Food Technology) along with Faculty Members, namely, Dr. Shweta Singh, Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr. Vikash Kumar Ms. Nitika Rathi, Mr. Prateek Gururani, Mr. Prateek Uniyal and Mr. Shivam Pandey were present in the event.
The event was organized by Mr. Rajeev Kumar (Sports Coordinator – Department of Food Technology) under the guidance of Dr. Shuchi Upadhyay (Head – Department of Food Technology).
