Psychological Counselling Cell

With the intent to address and help resolve emotional and psychological issues of the student community, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun has a University Psychological Counselling Cell… Relax and Rewire in its premises consisting of the faculty members and a Counsellor.

The Psychological Counselling Cell… Relax and Rewire encourages the students to understand themselves and figure out issues that trouble them. Counselling Cell offers individual and group counselling sessions to students, staff, and faculty to address their emotional and mental health concerns in an emotionally safe space while collaborating to uncover strengths to cope with life circumstances effectively.

The Cell further guides them to resolve their problems which can be personal, emotional, social, academic, interpersonal, etc. This is done through individual or group counselling to help them with academic goals, social and personality development, career goals, empathy, and interpersonal skills to have healthy relationships and a healthy lifestyle. The role of the Counsellor is to offer support through listening and responding in a confidential, non-judgmental, and timely way.

The Cell is aimed to promote the well-being of the students, staff, and faculty members.

The general objectives of the Cell are:

  • To identify the problems or difficulties faced by the students.

  • To help students work through their problems, develop self-awareness, and overcome psychological distress.

  • To help mitigate suffering, reach appropriate solutions, make responsible decisions, and enable students to become self-reliant.

  • To provide value education

  • To provide positive well-being

  • Strict confidentiality is ensured, and the service is both on an individual and group basis.

Please make a note that the Counsellors are not doctors (medical or otherwise) or psychotherapists. Counsellors provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to talk about your concerns or worries and collaborate to uncover your strengths and ways to cope with life circumstances effectively and efficiently.
