It was its first kind of event where Academia and Industries come up to share their challenges with the Ministry of MSME. Ltd., and Selaqui Industrial Association joined the inaugural session of Lamp lighting. Shri Jitender Joshi congratulated the team MSME and Uttaranchal University for organizing such an event where MSMEs can share their issue on an open platform. Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi said Uttaranchal University is the first University in Uttarakhand to get NAAC A+ accreditation and global ranking WURI. Ms Swati Shahi listened to issues by participants and emphasized availing the funds and training facilities for students and MSMEs. Shri R K Choudhary emphasized the different schemes and industry-academia. Shri Anupam Dwivedi shared his views on contribution Shri Pankaj Gupta shared different issues faced by new MSMEs in Uttarakhand and emphasized the University- Academia collaboration. Shri O P Singh discussed different schemes by the Government for the development of MSMEs. Shri Hari Thapliyal discussed Zed Certification and its importance. The session concluded with a discussion and questionnaire.

Department of Food Technology, SALS organized a workshop on food entrepreneurship on 7 September 2022 during National nutrition week. Every year the first week of September, has been celebrated as National nutrition week in the country with the aim of providing knowledge about nutrition, healthy lifestyles and eating habits. The theme of national nutrition week this year is ‘celebrate a world of flavours’ with a motive to encourage all the flavours used in different cuisines all around the world. On this occasion workshop cum food stalls were inaugurated by Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Satbir Singh Sehgal, Vice President, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Abhishek Joshi, Director, SA & IT, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS, Dr Rajeev Kumar, HoD, Food Technology by lighting lamp. More than seventy-five students participated in the food stall competition by displaying food stalls. All stalls were based on nutritionally based themes in which dishes of various states like Northeast dishes, Kerala dishes, Andhra Pradesh dishes, Punjabi and Chinese dishes. Karan Arora, Radha Khirwar, and Susmita Nama Das, M.Sc. Food Technology, 3rd Semester students were rewarded as winners of the event. Himanko Gogoi, B.Pharma, 1st semester declared as the first runner up and Ayushi Bhaduri, Suporna Chakraborty, and Tamanna Rana B.Sc. (H) Food Technology, 5th Semester got the second runner up position in the event. The event was coordinated by Dr Rajeev Kumar, HoD, Dr Arun Gupta, Mr Yogesh Awasthi, Mr Kamran Chaudhary, Mr Junaid Aman, Ms Anuska Pallavi under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS. More than fifty faculty members including Dr V K Srivastava, Dr Nishesh Sharma, Dr Bharti Ramola, Dr Waseem Ahmed, Dr Amit Bhatt, Campus Director were present on this occasion. Students actively participated in the event and showed interest in the promotion of entrepreneurship through nutritional foods.

E-Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organised a workshop on “IDEATHON- Creating and Building Innovative Ideas for Entrepreneurship” on 31 August 2022 in the Seminar Hall of UIM in offline mode. This workshop aimed at providing appropriate knowledge and a platform for students to encourage them about entrepreneurial idea generation. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University was the eminent speaker for the said workshop. Ms Neha Rastogi head E- Cell hosted the workshop for all Management students and welcomed the eminent speaker. Prof (Dr)Rajeev Ranjan, HoD, UIM, Uttaranchal University, welcomed the eminent speaker to have a discussion on Creating and Building Innovative Ideas for Entrepreneurship. Prof (Dr)Pradeep Suri initiated the session with an introduction to the relevance of money in one’s life. To make students understand the concept of entrepreneurship; he categorized that some people who have an advantage of pre-existed strong financial background are less worried about earning money, and most people seek a good job for survival and are much more satisfied with their average earnings. Prof Suri referred to various examples of Alumni of UIM who are presently running their successful business. He also spoke about the hardships faced by them during the initial entrepreneurial process. To boost the morale of the students the quotes like “Dream Big Work Hard” and “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently” were well articulated by Prof (Dr) Suri. Further, he laid an emphasis on the identification of untapped markets and the actual need of the consumers to start any sort of business. At the end of the session Prof (Dr) Suri briefly discussed the process of business proposal and said that further detailed discussion on the same will be undertaken in the next session.

Brainstorming Session on ADR from Competitive Perspective

Law College Dehradun faculty of Uttaranchal University organized a Brainstorming Session on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from competitive perspective on the Topic: Mediation: Competitive Perspective and Key Insight, under the aegis of Law College Dehradun Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre (LCDADRC) on 22nd may, 2021. Ms. Gunavathi Subramanium, Advocate. Solicitor and Mediator/ Mediation Trainer/ PG Lecturer on ADR at University of Malaya, Malaysia delivered the key note speech on the occasion. Starting from meaning of mediation she completed all the aspects of a mediation competition in this session. 500 plus students from different universities of India and abroad along with faculty members and professionals registered for the session. Speaking on the occasion Dean of Law College Dehradun Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna told that very purpose of this session was to promote ADR culture in the university so as to prepare their students for future Mediators and Arbitrators. Women Cell of School of Agriculture (SOA), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organized ‘One Day Workshop’ on ‘Self-defence: The Matter of Women Safety’ for the female students of SOA, on 2nd May 2022 in Agriculture Block. Mr V K Kaul, former Commandant, Indian Air Force, Government of India and Manager, Store & Purchase, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, was the invited guest for the event. The main objective of this workshop was to make the female students aware of the eve-teasing and violence that are sometimes observed in the society and to enhance their confidence for self-protection if such situations they face in their life. It is a need of the day for the girls and women to know their fundamental rights for safeguarding themselves and equality in all sense in society. The workshop started with a welcome note by Dr Neha Saini, Coordinator of Women Cell, SOA followed by a highlighting of the key points of the workshop by Dr Rajendra Prasad, HoD, School of Agriculture, He deliberated the importance of the workshop and discussed the need of such type of workshop organized in school and colleges. He encouraged & motivated the organizing team of the workshop. Mr V K Kaul, the invited guest instructor for Self-Defence explained strategies and demonstrated the techniques of self-defense. He discussed some common but important tips that are important to keep in mind in unusual situations. He emphasized that each girl should not lose their confidence in front of the attacker. He demonstrated the moves for self-defense and safety viz., moves to keep the attacker away from our body; moves to deter the attacker; moves to defeat the attacker; and many more moves. He also demonstrated the use of some body parts like the knee, elbow, and head that can be used to strongly heat the attacker. The girl volunteer students showed the above moves and techniques under the supervision of Mr. Kaul. He also highlighted the fundamental rights of women and explained the meaning of gender equality and motivated all the participants to build confidence in them. The workshop was very fruitful for the female students and faculty members of SOA. Dr Rachna Juyal, Member of Women Cell, SOA proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Atin Kumar and Dr Awneesh Kumar members of the organizing committee were also present during the workshop and provided their support in conducting different activities of the event. Sonakshi Rana, a student volunteer of Women Cell, SOA anchored the entire event very gracefully and appreciated it.

The Psychological Counseling Cell, School of Liberal Arts oragnised a workshop on Basics of Guidance and Counselling on 09 April 2022 to facilitate the learning and development of counselling skills and to gain first hand learning of counselling skills and application of counselling techniques. The workshop started with the lighting of lamp by Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean, SLA, guest speaker Dr Shivani Tewari, Psychologist, IIT Roorkee, Dr Reeta Rautela, Head, SLA and Mr Komil Kumar, Co- ordiantor of the workshop followed by University Kulgeet. Prof (Dr) Dean, SLA extended a warm welcome to the Resource Person and delightful wishes to all the attendees and motivated the students to enthusiastically participate and learn as much as they can from the expertise of the guest speaker. The overview of the workshop was presented by Dr Reeta Rautela, in which she focused on the need of psychological well being breaking the stigma attached to it. The session seems to be more significant as it introduces the students with the practical aspects of Counseling. Dr Tewari interacted with students and made them aware of the process of counseling, its various components and the skills to be a good therapist. The students of Liberal Arts patiently listened to the insightful talk of Dr Tewari and found it quite relatable as they are studying the theoretical aspects. Students of Liberal Arts get enlightened by the experiences and skills shared by the speaker. In the concluding segment of the session, a vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr Komil Kumar, Coordinator, Psychological Counseling Cell, who extended gratitude to the guest speaker, teachers and the student, along with the entire SLA fraternity who contributed in their own possible ways to make the event a grand success. The entire session was enjoyed by everyone as it was interesting and insightful at the same time in its approach.

Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University organized a workshop on, “Environment, Social and (corporate) Governance ” as the 3rd edition of ‘Career Awareness in Legal Globe’, under the aegis of Youth Parliament Society on 8 April 2022. The keynote speaker of the event was Mr Sonal Verma, Partner, Dhir & Dhir Associates. The event commenced with the lighting of lamp followed by the inaugural address by Pro Vice-Chancellor & Dean Law College, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna and he welcomed the Keynote speaker and the guests of the occasion. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna stated that in the current scenario, companies and institutions of any country are evaluated on the basis of parameters of Environmental, Social and Governance. “In future, companies adhering to E.S.G standards alone would be in a position to attract investments and would have a bright future”, he further maintained. Hon’ble Chancellor of the university, Shri Jintender Joshi observed that making students adept in the principles of E.S.G. and ensuring observance in letter and spirit is an avowed commitment of the university. “Uttaranchal University has been evaluated as A+ on the parameters of E.S.G. which is a matter of great satisfaction to us”, he further stated. The technical session by Mr Sonal Verma along with his associate Mr Saurabh Sharma included rare insights into the corporate firms, and was of great significance for aspiring corporate lawyers. The workshop provided deep acumen on the corporate culture and that the investors now are not only looking for investments in the company but are realizing the importance of ESG and the company’s links to sustainability and a healthy work environment. Further 17 SDGs and the importance of people and preservation of the planet were well explained. The workshop elaborated on the importance of the lawyer fraternity in leading change and how they will prove an asset when it comes to introducing ESG into the corporates. This was followed by the Query session and finally the participants took a pledge on protecting the planet earth. The event ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Sachin Bharadwaj, Chairperson of Youth Parliament Society followed by the national anthem. The workshop was well coordinated by Sonali Jangra and Muskan Jha, executive members of YPS. Those present on the occasion were Dr Poonam Rawat, Iqbal Singh Sahwney, Saurabh Sharma, Sachin Bhardwaj, Dr Shikha Gairola, Dr Vaibhav Uniyal, Dr Vibha and hundreds of Students and faculty members.

From 11th October to 13th October 2021 an In-house workshop on Python Data Science & Networking CCNA was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Engineering, Uttaranchal University, In collaboration with Amazing Training Basket Pvt Ltd, which showcased the application of Data Science and Networking on the software’s Anaconda, Jupyter & Cisco packet tracer. Mr. Prem Kumar Bharti Data Science Mentor & Mr. Akash Nigam CISCO Networking Mentor, was the speaker of the workshop. In that workshop around 167 students from different backgrounds has participated Amazing Training Basket has succefully completed the 3 Days workshop in UIT campus and they have got an Awesome feedback from students and faculties Datascience is a technology in which companies are extracting useful information & insights from the data on which they create models that take decisions and that decision should be automated.Mr. Prem Kumar bharti the DS speaker has used anaconda & jupyter tools to create projects and models, these tools enhanced the features of programing languages, Anaconda is a distribution of the Python and R programming languages for scientific computing, that aims to simplify package management and deployment. The distribution includes data-science packages suitable for Windows, Linux, and macOS .Jupyter is an open-source web application that allows you to create and share documents that contain live code, equations, visualizations and narrative text. Uses include: data cleaning and transformation, numerical simulation, statistical modeling, data visualization, machine learning, and much more. For CISCO Networking workshop Mr. Akash Nigam has explain the network and networking differences also he has explained the use of CISCO Routers, Switches & other important devices in industries, For networking projects and concepts, he has used a simulator called Packet Tracer which is a cross-platform visual simulation tool designed by Cisco Systems that allows users to create network topologies and imitate modern computer networks. The software allows users to simulate the configuration of Cisco routers and switches using a simulated command line interface Various topics in Data science was covered such as Students had learned about the basics of python-like what is it why do we use it and the future of python along with it students also had exposure to hands-on python, Pandas, NumPy matplotlib, and seaborne and got to know about how we can manipulate and process data along with it they had also exposure to statistics and got knowledge of how to extract useful data and insights from the raw and dirty data. Machine Learning algorithm and created a Project (Car Price prediction) in which their model has to predict the old car’s price for the customer. Various topics in Networking was covered such as What is Network & Networking, IP address V4 & V6,subletting, and basics of networking, Devices introduction, Router configuration, Router passwords, DHCP, Routing introduction & routing protocols, Introduction to L2 devices, switch configuration, switching concepts, VLAN configuration, InterVlan configuration, VTP, STP, RSTP etc. This workshop provided a platform to gain useful information, and to have an insight into the Data science & Networking The sessions motivated the students to explore the avenues of using the tools and explained various usage of the simulators and enable them to apply the same to a variety of complex industry scenarios. The interactive Q & A session helped in clearing the doubts of the participants. The students were able to acquire knowledge of the software, its uses, working and application to the real world problems. It was successfully organized by Dr. Kapil Joshi, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering with great zeal.

On 24th September 2021 an online workshop on Geo HECRAS software was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Engineering, Uttaranchal University, which showcased the application of 1D and 2D modules of the software. Mr Bill Olson, Water Resources Engineer, Civil, GEO, Middleton, Wisconsin, USA was the speaker of the workshop. Geo HECRAS is an AutoCAD, Micro Station and ESRI Arc GIS compatible interactive 2D/3D graphical user interface data wrapper to the US Army Corps of Engineers. This software allows a variety of different data to be quickly and easily incorporated into a HEC-RAS project. Along with that it creates multiple efficiencies for the practicing engineer by integrating a variety of data quickly and seamlessly into a HEC-RAS project. The software also helps in managing complex data sets, and multiple files. Various topics such as compute water surface profiles for steady and unsteady flow models using 1D and 2D modules, bridge and culvert roadway crossings, FEMA flood plain encroachments, stream restorations, inline reservoir structures, off-channel storage areas, and many more were deliberated by Mr. Olson. This workshop provided a platform to gain useful information, and to have an insight into the Geo HECRAS software. The sessions motivated the students to explore the avenues of using the software and explained various usage of the software and enable them to apply the same to a variety of complex water modeling scenarios. The interactive Q&A session helped in clearing the doubts of the participants. The students were able to acquire knowledge of the software, its uses, working and application to the real world problems. It was successfully organized by Mr Gaurav Thakur, Assistant Professor, and Mr Vinod Balmiki, Assistant Professor, of the Department of Civil Engineering with great zeal.

Department of Hotel management, UIM, Uttaranchal University conducted the Fruits and vegetables carving workshop cum Practical session based on Punjabi cuisine and Italian cuisine for BHM-5th Semester and & 7th Semester on the date of 10th September 2021. After a long time Fruit and Vegetable carving practice session done by our students, to add a new hands-on-skill. Our students were very excited and showing their passion on carving workshop. They also prepared Assorted Italian pizza from Italy and few dishes from Punjabi cuisine such as Peshawari chhole, Bhattura, Peas pulao, Boondi raita. Chef Bikky singh Panwar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hotel Management conducted the fruits and vegetables carving workshop and food production theme based practical. Mr. Manish Badoni, HOD, Department of Hotel management, UIM, Uttaranchal University motivated the students for improved their hands skill for future chef.

Full-Stack Web Development

Department of Computer Applications, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, organized a two-day Workshop on ‘Full Stack Web Development’ in collaboration with Ensino for the students of MCA, BCA and B.Sc. (IT) on 1st and 2nd of April, 2021. The purpose of the Workshop was to provide practical exposure to the students in the domain of Web Development. Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pathak (Assistant Professor – Computer Applications) welcomed the dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Dean – UIM), Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma (HOD, Computer Application), Prof. (Dr.) Amitabh Bhargava (HOD, Management) Mr. Savood Ahmad (Sr. Trainer Ensino) and Mr. Anand Kumar (Sr. Trainer, Ensino). Dr. Sonal Sharma initiated the workshop session with an informative speech on the need of conducting these types of sessions. She explained that the purpose of the event was to provide first-hand experience of the latest technologies to the students. Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri motivated the students and advised them to keep themselves updated, especially in the field of Information Technology. He also encouraged the students to participate actively in such Workshops. On Day 1 Mr. Savood explained the concepts of client-side scripting language and server-side scripting language, JavaScript, Ajax, and jQuery. On Day 2 Mr. Savood elaborated on the aspects needed for programming and debugging using Python, Django and data base connectivity through My-Sql. Thereafter students were given an assignment to create an e-commerce website using the techniques explained in the workshop. The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma. The workshop turned out to be a huge success with the active participation of students

A Workshop on ‘Remote Sensing and Geospatial System using IGIS 2.0 Software’ was jointly organized by Civil Engineering Department (UIT) & Scanpoint Geomatics Limited, Ahmedabad on 11th &12th February, 2020. The workshop started with an Introductory Note by Shri Vinod Mishra, Vice-President and Mr. Vivek Kr Sengar, Sr. Executive and Business Development, Scanpoint Geomatics Limited. The workshop was helpful in understanding the basics of GIS. The participants included Faculty Members, Research Associates & Research Scholars and students of the University. Satellite images are used in order to evaluate any current situation or to do trend analysis. In the processing of satellite/remote sensing images Geospatial Information System (GIS) plays a vital role. During this workshop various aspects and usage of different data and tools were demonstrated. The content delivered on Day 1 of the workshop consisted of basic knowledge about Geographical Information systems (GIS) delivered by Mr. Manish Dwivedi, Sr. Executive, GIS Solutions. Raster and vector data and image processing using IGIS software was elaborately discussed. The Second Day consisted of hands-on-practice on IGIS 2.0 software. Top sheets georefrencing, digitization of toposheet and vector data outsourcing were some of the points looked upon. The students were satisfied with the overall workshop experience. The workshop concluded with Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Awadhesh Chandramauli, Head – Department of Civil Engineering.
