Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is dedicated to nurturing innovative engineers and researchers equipped to meet the dynamic challenges of the modern technological world. It will handhold the India Semiconductor mission and National Quantum Mission.

About the Program

The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) program with a Specialization in Semiconductor Chip Design prepares students with industry-relevant abilities in chip design, embedded hardware-software integration, and intelligent electronic systems. The curriculum emphasizes VLSI design, FPGA-based systems, microcontrollers, embedded C, and real-time operating systems, with hands-on lab training on contemporary EDA and embedded platforms.

Through experiments, industry projects, and internships, the curriculum places an emphasis on innovation, practical application, and research-driven learning. Students are trained to design, simulate, validate, and implement integrated circuits, system-on-a-chip (SoC) architectures, and embedded control systems in order to bridge the hardware–software co-design domain required for new technologies like IoT, automotive electronics, edge AI, and robotics. Students are encouraging to conduct research on next-generation communication technologies, embedded AI systems, and low-power VLSI.

Eligibility

  • Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/ Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship.
  • Minimum 45% marks for general and 40% in case of SC/ST category.
For Lateral Entry
  • Passed 3 years Diploma in Engineering/ 2 years Diploma in Engineering (Lateral Entry)/B.Sc. with PCM Examination.
  • Minimum 55% marks in case of general category; 50% marks in case of SC/ST category

Note:

  • Only one choice of scholarship will be allowed to the candidate from the following:
    • 5% scholarship on Net Academic Fee (after merit scholarship) to Girl Candidate for complete programme.
    • 5% scholarship on Net Academic Fee (after merit scholarship) to ward of Defence Personnel for complete programme.
    • 10% scholarship on Net Academic Fee (after merit scholarship) to Alumni of Uttaranchal University (only in 1st year).
    • 10% scholarship on Net Academic Fee (after merit scholarship) to Sibling of Uttaranchal University(only in 1st year).
  • If any student deposits his/her complete yearly Fee, in that case additional scholarship of 5% on Net Academic Fee (after merit scholarship)will be provided for 1st year only.
