Pro Bono Club

Pro Bono Club Scheme launched in April 2017 was an initiative taken by Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. The primary objective of the Pro Bono Club Scheme is to improve the efficiency and quality of Pro Bono legal services by providing assistance to Pro Bono advocates through competent law students known as Pro Bono Associates. Through this program, the Government of India has, for the first time, initiated a program to encourage the culture of Pro Bono lawyering in the country with the objective of institutionalizing the practice. It aims at fulfilling the mandate of access to justice for the marginalized sections of the society and the constitutional obligation of free legal aid for all. The Nyaya Bandhu program is aimed at fulfilling the Department of Justice's critical mandate of enhancing 'access to justice' for marginalized sections of the society and the State's Constitutional obligation of providing ’Free legal Aid’ for all. This endeavor will give practical exposure to students and help them in becoming public–spirited practitioners, and at the same time, it will also provide much needed assistance to Pro Bono Advocates and help them in elevating the Quantity and Quality. Proposed activities of the club: Pro Bono Litigation Assistance.

  • Community Care Legal Assistance (CCLA)
  • Research, Documentation & Reporting
  • Promote Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism
  • Recognition and Awards for PBAs and Alumni Nyaya Bandhu Advocates
