The programme is a combination of modern and ancient English literature, consisting of three main areas of focus, i.e. Prose, Poetry, and Drama. The programme includes literature by not just English writers, but from all over the world. Cultural, political and historical contexts of English and linguistics are explored on an advanced level.
It prepares students for teaching and Creative writing in English. After Post-Graduate degree, a candidate can pursue Doctoral Degree or can appear in competitive examination for jobs in various government departments. MA English students also have scope to build their career in the field of journalism, Education, BPOs and KPOs, Publishing, Theatre, Media & Entertainment, Corporate, Writing, Advertising and Public Relations. Post Graduates can aspire for the job profile of Editor or Assistant Editor, Web Content Writer, Academic Writer, Teacher, Translator, Public Servant, Quality Control Executive, Theater Actor, to name a few.
